Jewelry Care Guide

Fine jewelry is made to be worn — a little routine care keeps it looking the way it did the day you got it.

Everyday Habits

  • Put jewelry on after perfume, lotion, and hairspray, and take it off before swimming — chlorine can weaken gold alloys.
  • Store pieces separately in a soft pouch or lined box so they don't scratch each other.
  • Wipe pieces down with a soft, lint-free cloth after wearing to remove oils and moisture.

Cleaning at Home

Soak in warm water with a drop of mild dish soap, brush gently with a soft toothbrush, rinse, and dry with a lint-free cloth. That's all most gold and diamond jewelry needs. Avoid harsh chemicals, bleach, and abrasive cleaners, especially on softer gemstones.

Once a Year

Have prongs and clasps checked once a year — a loose stone is much cheaper to fix than to replace. Bring your pieces by the store and we'll inspect them for you.
